FAQs About My Wedding Photography

What styles do you specialize in?

Modern Documentary/Photojournalism. I work as a storyteller to artistically capture every little detail that happens throughout the day from the bride getting ready to the couple leaving at the end of the day. I’ll do the “in front of the church, posed, family photos” but I prefer to capture your day as it unfolds, rather than posing what does not naturally take place.

Do you do any editing to the photos after you shoot them?

Yes. Freshen-up retouching is included to remove blemishes, stray hairs, lessen or eliminate dark circles under the eyes, etc. Some specific images will also be creatively edited to make them unique by using textures, or various color changes/saturation adjustments. Special care is taken to make sure that your image accurately represents you in the best way possible. Please note: typically, most photographers do not include this service (post-production editing) free of charge.

Will you be my actual photographer, taking the photos at my wedding? Will any one else help you?

Yes. If your package lists an assistant, under most circumstances it will be my wife, who is also an excellent photographer. In most situations this allows us the opportunity to be able to each split up and capture the emotions and events of both the bride and groom when they are not together during the day.

What type of camera/lenses will you use?

I have three Canon Digital SLR camera bodies(EOS 7d and two EOS 20Ds), and an assortment of lenses that can even take photos in low light. Including:

Sigma 15mm f2.8 (Fisheye)

Canon 28-70mm f2.8L

Sigma 30mm f1.4

Canon 65mm f2.8 Macro

Canon 85mm f1.2L

Canon 135mm f2.0L

I also have flash equiptment, but try to only use it only when it is necessary, or in a way (normally off-camera) that makes the scene more dynamic.

Do you use an assistant? Is there an extra charge for this?

When requested. My assistant knows and understands wedding photography, as well, and helps to make my job faster and easier. Yes, there is an extra charge for this. Please see package pricing for details.

What happens if you are ill?

I have a network of other photographers who have a very similar taste and style as I do. I’ll be sure to contact you as far in advance if something comes up. However, I have not yet missed a wedding nor been late for a wedding.

Can other people take photos while you are taking photos?

It’s fine throughout the ceremony. However, I prefer for others to pose their shots after I do family shots. I've found it slows down the process and affects the day's schedule otherwise.

Should my event last longer than scheduled, will you stay? Is there an extra charge?

Sometimes the day can last longer than expected, and if so, I’m willing to stay. However, extra charges will incur and online galleries will not be posted until this additional cost is cared for.

Do you do any extra photography with just the bride and groom on the wedding day?
Yes, this is normally my favorite part of the day. Actually, I would recommend that you plan a time (30-60 minutes) where we could work to capture just you and your new spouse in a special setting. If this is not possible to fit this into your day, or if you want even more special time, another option is to have a special bridal special bridal session with just you and the groom in your wedding attire on a day following the wedding.

Will you accept a list from me, for specific photos to be taken?

I am willing, however, no one photo is guaranteed. You will find, that many of the shots you’re requesting have usually been captured at other weddings I’ve shot (see samples). For formal portraits I do appreciate a list of desired posed group shots.

What attire will you and your assistants wear?

We’ll fit in – just like a guest.

How long after the wedding will the images be ready?

Around 6 weeks. You will receive an email as soon as they are ready.

Will you give me all the images?

Yes, all the final images (Normally 275-375) will be sent out approximatly 6 weeks after the wedding. I will send you a data CD/DVD that will contain all the final images for you to print and I will also put the images online in a password protected gallery for others to view or print. I will retain the copyright for the images, but you will have the printing rights.
* I do not offer the orignial pictures as I feel they subtract from the final images and how the day is viewed.*
